Mongols MC – Est. 1969
The Mongols Motorcycle Club was established on December 5, 1969 in the East Los Angeles area in the city of Montebello, California. Mother Chapter was formed with the first fifteen members. Within a 5 year span other chapters were formed, Los Angeles (L.A.), San Diego (Dago), Bakersfield, Long Beach, San Gabriel Valley (S.G.V.), and San Fernando Valley (S.F.V.).
The Mongols M.C. developed an immediate strong hold in the Southern California area. At the time and even now there were really no other 1%er clubs co-existing in these areas.
During the early 1970’s the Mongols M.C. launched this new American biker movement into the West Coast area. At the time it was misunderstood. This was a lifestyle for these brothers riding around on their chopped Harley Davidson motorcycles through the streets of East LA. Most of the new members were U.S. military veterans. They were used to a strict code of silence, respect, and camaraderie, and that’s what made them a force to be reckoned with!
There was always a certain mystique about the Club. After time, the public understood and learned to accept and finally embrace this unique American culture.
The Mongols name derived from the Mongol Empire that was led by Genghis Khan. The Mongols divided and conquered big countries throughout Eastern Europe in the early 1200’s.
They were known to be highly disciplined, superbly coordinated and brilliant in tactics. The Mongols were fearless warriors on horseback. Yet small in numbers with a lot of heart they dominated and decimated their enemies; Hence the Mongols name that we now wear proudly on our backs, but the difference now is we ride motorcycles. At the end of the day it’s about “Quality not Quantity!”
Throughout the years the Mongols Motorcycle Club has grown and has established chapters in many cities, states, and countries. We have formed a solid motorcycle brotherhood throughout the world that “No One” can break.
